Twenty Years in Washington. Nothing to Show for Tampa.

January 28, 2026

For twenty years, Tampa has sent Kathy Castor to Washington.

Twenty years is not a short trial period. It’s a full career. It’s long enough to leave a mark. It’s long enough to pass major legislation, shape policy, and fight for the people who sent you there.

And after two decades in Congress, Kathy Castor’s legislative record tells a simple story.

She has only had two bills become law.

Both renamed post offices.

That’s it.

No major legislation to lower costs for families.

No meaningful reforms to help young people buy homes.

No serious action to stop jobs from being shipped overseas.

No lasting wins that change the trajectory of life for the people of this district.

This is what happens when politicians get too comfortable in Washington.

Meanwhile, families here are falling behind.

Housing costs are pricing people out of neighborhoods they grew up in. In 2025, Tampa led the nation in foreclosures with a rate of nearly 3% higher than the national average. Groceries, insurance, and energy bills keep climbing. Young people are working harder than ever and getting less in return. Parents are wondering whether their kids will be better off than they were.

Kathy Castor didn’t create every problem facing Tampa. But after twenty years in Congress, she owns the results. Seniority without impact isn’t leadership. Longevity without accountability isn’t service. Showing up year after year without delivering real change is not good enough.

This district doesn’t need another comfortable politician. It needs someone who understands that Washington has failed the people it’s supposed to serve. We need someone new. Someone willing to challenge a system that rewards inaction and protects insiders.

That’s why I’m running.

Government should serve the people, not itself. It’s time for a new generation to step forward and defend the American Dream.
